Bhishma Panchaka refers to the five days during the Kartika month dedicated to special spiritual practices. Grandfather Bhishma, one of the greatest maharathis in the Mahabharata, observed these five days with great austerity. It is said that Bhishma chose to leave his body on this auspicious period.
